At Hanover Packaging, our commitment to sustainability encompasses both how we manufacture and what we manufacture. We have been purchasing renewable energy credits for 100% of our electric usage since 2007. In 2009, we completed a carbon audit and are now 100% carbon balanced. As a result of these major steps, and the incremental improvements that we make every day to how our plant runs, we have been named an EPA Green Power Partner.
After submitting our five year plan for sustainability to the EPA, we were honored to be designated an EPA Climate Leader, one of only 285 such companies in the United States to be recognized.
Innovations in Sustainable Packaging
Introducing Han-O-Foil
In 2009, Hanover introduced Han-O-Foil, a metallic coating that is applied on press, while a package is being printed, and achieves the look of hot stamping or mylar stock at less cost to our customer AND at less cost to the environment. Han-O-Foil can be applied to any substrate –transparent packaging, paperboard folding cartons, rigid box wraps – whenever a customer wants to create the special look of foil. An added benefit is that Han-O-Foil can be applied in
EVERY COLOR to accent the graphics of the package as a whole.
Transparent Packaging
Hanover Packaging has long been a leader in transparent packaging, including not only PVC, but environmentally favored APET and RPET. We have decades of experience in producing APET and RPET folding cartons with an elegant micro-perforated score that can be customized for each project.
Paperboard Packaging
In 2010, Hanover Packaging introduced its high yield board alternatives. Each of these substrates has a strong unbleached pulp layer beneath the printable surface that provides excellent strength but weighs less than board of the same caliper. The end result is more sheets to the ton, meaning a higher overall yield, less use of natural resources AND a lower cost to our customers.
